People who like to consume meat, especially the red meat will have AMD risk bigger than the people who consume less red meat or never eat it. What is AMD? AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) is the decreasing of the human's vision as they are getting older. It causes the reduction of the retina function that leads in the blurred vision and blindness. Elaine Chong from the University of Melbourne, Australia, has made a research that people who consume the red meat more than 10 times a week has the 47% risk in getting the AMD bigger than people who consume the red meat less than 5 in a week.
From now on, after recognize the bad effect in consuming such meat, we should consider more about buying such food or even consume it. It is okay if we can manage the amount of the red meat we consume to minimize the risk of being blinded by our old age. The researchers have a recommendation that the perfect consideration in choosing the kind of meat we are going to consume and the change in our eating behavior can reduce and minimize the risk of AMD in our old age. For me, consuming chicken will be better than consuming such red meat.
